The CaraDerma® Skin Care Story

As is often the case, CaraDerma® Acne Treatment was developed by a person who needed it. After developing an acne condition as an adult, scientist Dana Way was a clinical candidate for Acutane®, a drug known for treating severe acne conditions. However, her health did not condone the use of the drug. So, quite simply, she decided to utilize her lab knowledge to put together a formula that would treat severe as well as mild acne without severe side effects.

After years of time and trials, she found that, by preventing excessive shedding of the skin cells inside the pores and drying the excessive oil, she could have the kind of acne treatment she desired. Building on the invention of a unique compound by Dr. Peter Pugliese, Dana was able to put such a formula together. This unique compound is (importantly) non-steroidal, and works in much the same way as hydrocortisone: it reduces the signs of inflammation as well as the excessive shedding of skin cells in the pores. She added Benzoyl Peroxide, the known agent for drying excessive oil and has anti-bacterial properties as well. Combining these two components enabled her to create an effective yet more gentle formula for treating acne of all types.
